The Right Group?

Yesterday I was up bright and early to join the First Bank & Trust 'Hearts & Hands volunteer team at the 'habitat for humanity' volunteer center to check in for the day.

I had to stop and put air in my tire (seems I have a slow leak in my tire).. so I called and said I would be a few minutes late. I had directions and an address but was concerned about finding it...

I was almost there when I pulled behind a whole line of cars stopped on the side of the road (I thought it was our group) and I thought I recognized the guy in the car behind me... so I stayed with the group as they pulled away and drove down the road making a few more turns... (because I was late I thought - 'Oh! they must be heading to the work site'). I followed for a few miles and then we all pulled over on the side of the road. The guy in the car in front of me came back (he had binoculars in his hand) and said good morning we are glad you are joining our group this morning. I said Thank You... what group are youf? He said ,The Crescent City Bird watchers'....

I must have had a shocked look on my face - because my heart skipped a beat and I was panicked (thinking oh ! no!... this isn't my group - My group should have work gloves NOT binoculars. )

I told him I was sorry they in fact weren't my group - I was supposed to meet a group for habitat for humanity. My brain started to spin through the past few turns we made - hoping I could get back on the right track and find my group who must be waiting for me.... LOST...

Well, the whole group got out of their cars (about 12 cars) all with binoculars and some with expensive looking photography equipment and pointed across the highway towards the tops of the trees... they were all standing on the side of my car (so I couldn't pull away until they moved away from my car).

I headed back onto the right road and my phone rang... they were waiting for me. Sure enough... There was the sign I arrived during the safety training speech... My experience was good for a laugh.... :)

I spent the day high on a ladder first caulking the spaces between the exterior eaves and the siding of the house and then I painted. It was great to do some community service and it was fun to be with some of my coworkers.

I came home and finished painting the ceiling in the sun room . I took a vacation day on Friday and spent the whole day painting ceilings because the floor in our house is supposed to be installed this coming week.
