EASTER ...
We enjoyed the Easter weekend. I worked 1/2 day on Friday and the girls arrived home from camping and relaxing in Florida. We unloaded all the camping stuff. Saturday morning we made scones (Beignets), cinnamon rolls ,shopped for the ingredients for ginger beef and cashew chicken and prepared all the veggies and meat. Then we had fun cooking the chinese food - it was really good with 3 cooks in the kitchen. MMMM!! It was so worth all the preparation and we enjoyed every last bite. Sunday morning the Easter bunny left a few treats, after church we enjoyed ham, scalloped potatoes, ceasar salad and corn. Matt and Naydia and Tory Jensen were here for dinner. Julie and Jocelyn had some fun games ... we played charades and they taught us another game (but we weren't quick enough to catch on). We enjoyed some great laughs and it was fun to be all together. Tyson and Macy have spring break this week. Julie and Jocelyn are back to school this week. Spring (Allergy) season is here - where are the antihistamines, kleenex and eye drops?
Friday afternoon Todd's crew had a big scare (guardian angels were working overtime) and Matt's hands got 2nd degree rope burns - he spent Friday night and part of Saturday with his hands in cups of ice. Sunday Matt's hands were covered with huge water blisters. Ouch!! Todd's crew was working on a huge water oak (approx 150 years old) - the limbs spread above three houses. Tory cut a piece of limb at approx 120 feet from the ground - it was tied off to be lowered by the rope - but the limb broke and swung with lots of momentum. Matt was on the other end of the rope - the previous limb wasn't too heavy so the rope wasn't anchored on another tree. Matt went approximately 70 feet in the air and prevented the piece of limb from hitting a house - he guided it a few feet from the side of the house at the expense of the skin on his hands. We count our blessings that the injury was minor.
