Last night Todd & I slept in our master bedroom in this house for the first time... it was so nice to be in our king size bed. It was a little chilly though and dark... none of the plugs or outlets are installed (thank goodness for my headlamp) and we don't have the thermostat's installed downstairs yet (so no heat). But the room had our kingsize bed and hardwood floor - this allowed for the girls (Julie and Jocelyn) to sleep comfortably upstairs in the queensize beds.
Then early this morning I got up and put the turkey in the new electric roasting oven and put the ham in the crockpot and carried them upstairs to Tyson's room to plug them in. All morning the meat cooked. We enjoyed waffles for breakfast. Tyson got up early and tested his dirtbike (this week he replaced the piston and got it working again) today he got stranded (a loose sparkpug) and had to have Todd bring him a wrench and later he got stranded again and had to push his dirtbike to a neighborhood where Todd cook pick him up. We watched movies this morning and then made dinner. It was delicious... and will only get better over the years when this house gets finished with kitchen appliances and countertops and sinks.. just think maybe next year dinner will be fixed in a normal kitchen with all the amenities... until then we are so grateful to be together and enjoy a great meal....
I'm so thankful for so many things... but especially today
#1 - my life - I better enjoy it.
#2 - my husband (I'm happy he still loves me after 25 years)
#3 - our family - GREAT KIDS (my greatest joy is watching them enjoy being together)
#4 - our dog Bella (I love our early morning and nightly walks looking at the stars)
#5 - a house with floors & heat and kind of a kitchen
#6 - that great new $29 electric roasting oven (it cooked the turkey today)
#7 - the handy dandy crockpot (it cooked the ham today)
#8 - a movie (ps I love you) it made me think about how grateful I am to live life with a loving family.
#9 - family - sisters, brothers, cousins, parents, etc.
#10 - friends - all of you... make life more fun... miss ya too.
#11 - apple pie and ice cream... once a year isn't enough
Looking at the stars last night reminded me of a weekly friday event when I was little.... rollerskating. We would walk several blocks all bundled up for the canadian winter with my mom to the cultural hall in Raymond for Rollerskating night. The Navratil family ran the rollerskating... we would strap on the rollerskates and have a great time. At the end of the night when our feet were tired and we took off the rollerskates it felt like I could fly (my feet were so light without the rollerskates). Then we would walk home in the cold winter night admiring the stars and their reflection on the crystal white snow... I love the stars... my mom taught me about finding the big dipper and the little dipper and the north star.. I feel such comfort from God when I look into the expanse filled with stars (when I was little I used to pretend they were diamonds... and the sparkly snow was diamonds too) The best part about rollerskating was being together and having fun. simple formula for happy times.
