This past week we enjoyed the mardi gras parades. The kids had a week vacation from school. The first parade Jocy & Macy attended with Jocy's friends while we were in Cancun. They had a great time. Tailgating - cookout and the excitement of time with friends and all the floats.
The next parade it was Macy & Me just standing on the curb for the parade, we didn't know anyone around us but enjoyed catching beads, toys and candy that was thrown from the floats. We watched the bands and cars and floats in the parade. The whole time I thought... this is just like going to the Raymond parade for everyone here (native residents of Slidell). Getting together with family, reserving a spot on the parade route, eating together and having fun, walking the parade route to see returning friends and relatives and getting re-acquainted. But it's alot different when you are a new move in - a stranger on the parade route and don't know anyone - it's kind of lonely and you wish you had friends and family to visit with. The next parade was more fun with Todd & Tyson & Macy & I (Jocy was with her friends). This past week we attended a few parades in New Orleans in the garden district on St Charles Ave. Uncle Jim and Aunt Larraine arrived on Sunday night and came to the parades with us. It was fun to get all the beads and stuffed animals and toys and trinkets that are thrown from the floats. We have beads of all colors and sizes ... it was fun. But I think the small parades in Slidell were better - less people, cleaner streets, and closer to home. So maybe I'll share some beads with you before I throw all of them away. I'm sure all the little grand nieces would love some pretty beads of all colors. I'll keep a few to decorate with for 4th of July, St Patricks day and for Mardi Gras decorations for next year. The rest will go with the garbage. It will be way more fun next year if some of you come to discover the fun with us. It's been fun to have family here visiting. Make plans to join us next year!
